NyAC – Not Your Average Company
NyAC is an independent UK-based media development and production company. Founded in 2006 by Phil Parker, to focus on creating original feature films, it is now evolving into a multi-platform content and production company. ‘Relative Desire’, the first of a six-film slate is due to enter production in 2012.
Phil built the company based upon his extensive development and training expertise working with companies like Aardman Animation, the BBC, C4,Berlin Brandenburg Medienboard, the UK Film Council and European MEDIA workshops. It quickly attracted the attention of a new generation of award winning talent, and the backing of private investors.
In 2009, after extensive research, NyAC started to develop a new approach to collaborative content development. This will see in 2012 the creation of the first BCre8ive workshop, and in 2013 the first Dynamic Labs. BCre8ive is an online collaborative platform for new creative ideas.
As part of these developments the DU Forum was created in October 2009, which brings together creatives from different platforms to discuss common ground, and develop best practice approaches to IP content creation.
2010 saw the launch of SOUNDTRAXS, a global music competition, that will compliment NyAC’s feature film production activities, and establish the company’s commitment to multi-platform developments. http://www.muzu.tv/soundtraxs
2011 has seen the creation of a BCrea8ive partnership between Aardman Animation, Jager developments and Kisi productions. NyAC has also entered into co-production agreements with Studio Mitte and BigSmall on its second film ‘Bait”. The BFI has provided development support for the the African contemporary drama ‘The Reluctant Orator’ and Soho Moon has agreed to to co-produce the feature ‘Innocent’.
